Tim and Charmaine, they were lovely. Straight away I could tell when I first spoke with them.
But I almost didn’t shoot their wedding.
“Nup.”, is what I said. “The ceremony is at Taronga Zoo, and the reception is at Bather’s Pavilion, on VALENTINE’S DAY! And they have Michael Azzolini (fashion stylist to the stars) styling! There is NO-WAY that is going to be a small wedding!”, is what I went on to say.
I thought Sonny must have rocks in his head to suggest that I would take on a huge event like that. After all, I kept saying to him how I just wanted to focus on the small, intimate weddings, and elopements now. But he was insistent that I at least had a chat with the couple to find out about the plans, and I did, and they were lovely, and I was wrong – it was going to be a beautiful, small, intimate wedding, at the Zoo, and the Bathers Pavilion, on Valentine’s Day.
I’m so glad I was wrong.
The bride and groom got ready with their family/guests at Sydney’s Langham Hotel.
Charmaine’s bouquet was stunning and unique. Complementing her incredible suit were orchids, carnivorous pitchers, and (my mother’s favourite) bat flowers.
After the short ceremony, we were free to wander around the zoo. Tim and Charmaine are huge animal lovers, particularly birds, so in the aviary they excitedly pointed out the different ones they could see while I took photos.
Bather’s Pavilion at Balmoral was, not surprisingly, bustling on Vallo’s Day, but our couple had hired a private room for their small post-wedding luncheon. Check out their stunning black, wedding cake!
We finished this beautiful day at Middle Head, for a few more photos before Tim and Charmaine headed back to the zoo to stay the night there.
Makes me smile.
