Hi. Thanks for getting in touch.
I’m Jacqui. I’m a photographer and a storyteller, and I’m Running Under the Sprinkler.
Well, probably not right now, but what I mean is that when you book Running Under the Sprinkler for your photography, you book me, so maybe you want to know a bit about me first…
I get lost looking at other people’s photos, absorbed in the stories those images are telling me, so I think that’s what got me started as a photographer all those years ago. I have an endless thirst for knowledge, constantly seeking, always wanting to learn more.
I love champagne, cheese, chocolate, and Cheez Doodles (they’re a Swedish packet chip. Are you Swedish? Can you get me some? just kidding. a bit.).
And I love being barefoot.
My three kids (who are pretty grown-up now) are my three most favourite people in the world, and I am forever wondering how I got so lucky as to be their mum. They, along with my partner, Sonny, are who I have life’s best adventures with. We all love to travel, and laugh, and they all work alongside me as photographers as well, so I am very lucky.
Like my business name suggests, my photography leans in to the carefree fun and nostalgia of a childhood spent with itchy legs from the wet grass under the sprinkler. I love it to be raw and honest, I love to tell your stories, journaling your ‘reals’. And for styled and advertising work, I love bringing your visions to life.
On mountaintops, underwater, and everywhere in between.
Because it makes me smile.
(photo taken by one of my daughters, as we walked to the peak of Mt Kosciuszko)

What does a morning look like in your home?
Journal’ Sessions are my documentary ‘day in-the-life’ sessions. It may be a Saturday morning at home, with a trip to the park, or a cafe. It may be your family on holidays, at your farm, or seeing the sights. It’s beautiful real life.
My half day Journal sessions are $1250, and represent fantastic value with a tonne of photos in your gallery, and a stunning album of images telling your story. Full day in the life, and also more extended sessions (like a week) are available on request.
What’s your family story?
From couples to the beautiful chaos of an extended family, busy kids, fur babies, and all families in between. I love your stories!
Playing, cuddling, laughing, so much laughing, cooking, exploring, adventuring, My family photo sessions are candid and relaxed because I love genuine smiles, and natural interactions.
Like the classical painters, I see beauty in the emotion and connection between you and your loved ones, so don’t worry about having to smile and look at the camera, because that just isn’t my thing.
Family sessions can be at your home, out and about, or on holidays. Outdoor location sessions are always held around sunset, to guarantee the prettiest light (unless we are doing something a little wild and different and are on a boat, or in the city, or at a theme park kinda thing). Sessions at your home can be any time of day.
Included in the price is a full selection of edited, high resolution images delivered via your own private, online gallery, not watermarked, ready for downloading and printing. Plus the same non-watermarked images in low resolution, ready to share straight from the gallery with friends and family. Professional printing on a variety of mediums can be accessed via your gallery or arranged by me, and I am happy to say I don’t mark up on printing costs.
A standard family portrait session is $695*.
*Bookings on weekends and public holidays, in peak season, attract a $50 surcharge. Travel fees, beyond Sydney metro, may be charged. Large, extended families, may have added surcharge.
I photograph life. Your family’s story…
because it makes me smile.
A newborn session is ideally held when baby is between two and twelve days old. They are teeny, sleepy, floppy, and dreamy in that time. Don’t fret if you are late to the party, though – 3 to 6 months is full of smiles and wonder, while still looking like a little cherub.
I don’t put a time limit on our session. I am more than happy to wait while you feed, settle, or cuddle, your new baby. As a mother of three (including twins) I understand that babies work on their own schedule. Besides, the longer I am with you, the more baby cuddles I can get!
I love to photograph your baby(ies) in your home, either lifestyle, or as a more documentary style. Parents and siblings (of the furry variety as well) are always included, with natural moments like bath time and feeding, telling your family story.
As with my other packages, you will receive a full selection of edited, high resolution images in your private online gallery, not watermarked, and ready for downloading and printing. Plus a full selection of non-watermarked low resolution images ready to share straight from the gallery with friends and family.
I charge $725 for a newborn package, up to six months of age.
If you would like to combine a ‘bump’ and newborn package, it would be $1310 for the two.

documentary + storytelling
because it’s how you feel,
not just how you look.
and because even with the best-laid plans,
the best of life is unscripted and imperfect.
Feel awkward when someone tries to take your photo? Don’t know how to stand, how to smile without second-guessing how you must look? Then this is the photography for you.
Have kids that like to move? Do their own thing? Then, yep, this is the style for you.
Is your world more chaos than control? More wild andfree than secure? Then sit back, relax, this is your kinda session.
I took this picture of my Mum with my first SLR camera back in 1985. We were on holidays, I was getting to know my new camera and I lookedacross to Mum and I told her she looked beautiful sitting in the window light, so I wanted to take her picture. She laughed. If I had never taken that photo, I doubt I would remember the moment – that candid few seconds between us, with Mum being typically self deprecating, but happy to indulge her 15 year old daughter while she sat there waiting for something else. This photo is so much more than just the way she looked that day. This photo is a memory of a story, A memory of a feeling.
That is the why for documentary photography.
“Jacqui no words can describe how grateful I am for the breathtaking images you captured of my second sons birth!! I reached out to you when I was pretty much ready to pop at 38 weeks hoping you were available and boy am I glad I didn’t listen to my husband who was very hesitant to have a photographer present. Luke is now converted and absolutely adores the images you captured too! You were so incredibly professional and literally a fly on the wall capturing the most beautiful images of our son entering the world. Months on I look back at your images and it takes me back to that moment when my heart grew that little bit bigger and it reminds me of how powerful and strong my body is to have carried and brought my boys into the world. I love looking at the images from a different angle and witnessing the birth in a different way, just so special! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, I cannot recommend you enough!” – Mandy and Luke

holiday sessions and travel
I travel for all types of sessions
If you don’t live near me (I’m based in Sydney) then I am happy to travel to you.
Or perhaps you are travelling?
Whether you are loading up a camper for a road trip around the country, jetting off to a mountaintop for an elopement, visiting your family farm, heading to a yoga retreat bonding session, sailing, flying, hiking, whatever it is,
I think it’s a perfect time for photos.
I can help with planning too!
If you’re wanting photos in a destination away from home, I would love to help with planning – I have travelled extensively, and what I don’t already know about a particular place, I am happy to discover.
It may be as simple as helping to find a great location for some family photos, or more complex, like helping to organise that mountaintop elopement, with travel, accommodation, and other suppliers all needing to be sorted.
Whatever it is, I’m keen to assist.
What does it all cost?
There’s your session fee, depending on what type of session it is, and on top of that I charge some ‘petrol money’ (or an airfare), and maybe accommodation (depending how far from you I am).
In some cases, where I am travelling anyway, there are no travel fees.
Keep an eye on my socials for updates on where I might be headed.

When is the best time for an outdoor photo session?
I’m so glad you asked!
Give me soft, winter sunset light any day.
Beaches and parks are so much quieter in the cooler months,
and with an earlier sunset, that soft light, chunky knits
and smiles, it doesn’t get any better.
How long does a session take?
A standard session will typically take between one and two hours. But it really depends what we are doing, and how many people are being photographed.
What should I wear?
Wear something that you enjoy. Be comfortable. Be you.
Some colour combinations work better than others – I love the natural, earthy tones.
If you would like a little inspiration, have a look at this Pinterest page.
Whether the weather…?
Yes, I do photograph in the rain, and the results are beautiful.
Depending on your session I will likely go ahead in most
weathers, unless the light is miserable.
How many photos are delivered?
There is no set number of photos that I take, or deliver, and I generally find it easier to edit an image and include it in your gallery rather than make the decision to not include it. For a standard session you will get more than 50, often more than 100, edited images. I like your photo session to tell a story. I like to include the feelings, not just the look.
Do you do mini sessions?
Not really. See previous question. If it’s a question of pricing, then in certain cases I may be able to offer a barter. Or, please check out the beautiful work of my children, at Salty Photography, or Evan Turner Photography.
What about prints?
Yes! My professional print lab has some stunning and unique print options, which you can see samples of in this guide (pages 24 to 27). You will be able to order basic prints and framing options directly through your gallery, and for the more unique pieces, just email me and I can sort it for you.
I encourage you to print photos, rather than leave them sitting on a computer. For this reason I don’t profit from your printing, and there is no obligation to print with my lab exclusively.
It’s not always about the main story, sometimes the real story lies on the periphery – the notes between the music that make the song.
