On one of those perfectly mild days, not too warm, not too cool, but with the clean, clear air that Tassie is so good at delivering, Simon and Madeleine got married. Madeleine’s house was buzzing with pretty floral frocks, delicious treats, and lots of laughter. It was a joy to photograph.
Photographing Heidi and Jaben’s wedding in Tasmania two years before, I took my Belle and India as second shooters, so it was fair that I took my Evan to shoot with me on this one. While I was with Madeleine, he went to Simon’s hotel to photograph the boys getting ready, and despite being a fairly new driver ended up chauffeuring them to the church as well.
The ceremony was at St John’s Presbyterian Church, Hobart, with a minister that quoted Nick Cave lyrics, making me smile.
With a little wind outside the church providing me with one of my favourite photo series. I love that Madeleine was oblivious to her veil attack!
The reception was a little out of town at the beautiful Agrarian Kitchen in New Norfolk.
A sustainable restaurant and kitchen garden (which is huge) that was recently voted 2024 Restaurant of the Year in Gourmet Traveller magazine. Incredible food, and a stunning setting in the grounds of an old psychiatric hospital.
Biggest thanks to Evan for his beautiful photography, and even better company. We spent the next couple of days hiking and exploring in Tassie, which I adored.
