Some images from my session in the Mamanucas, Fiji with surfer Laura Enever, underwater, wearing Billabong, and rocking it.
I was a little out of my comfort zone in the deep water here because deep water plays havoc with skin tones, but I didn’t have long to shoot, so we shot where the boat was.
I don’t wear flippers because I am too buoyant, and they just float on the surface, and we were in a decent current, so I flailed around, and was held under (because I float otherwise) as much as possible to get the shots, then had to call it quits. Still, to get that infinite blue, it’s just magical and so worth it.
Laura was so professional, and really sweet and fun. She is an amazing talent, and totally at home in the water (no surprises there). I am completely in awe of her bravery taking on big wave surfing, even more so as she is about a quarter of the size of me!
Thanks to Moana Sailing Fiji for the boat, and to Sonny for holding me underwater.
